Scorpions and rodents

Are scorpions native to Las Vegas?

The Arizona bark scorpion is not. It first appeared in Southern Nevada around 1990, arriving with plants imported from Arizona and spreading through palm trees and new construction. See scorpion control.

Why do scorpions show up in garages and block walls?

Bark scorpions can live in large numbers inside hollow block walls, reached through narrow cracks. Gaps at garage doors and weep screeds then let them in. Stuccoing and capping the walls, tight window screens and door sweeps are standard advice.

When are scorpions most active?

Sightings climb from spring through early fall, with summer the peak and September among the most active months. They are inactive in winter.

How do I find scorpions at night?

A violet blacklight makes scorpions glow, so a walk around the yard and wall base after dark shows where they are. A technician can do this as part of an inspection.

Why do I hear rats in my attic?

Roof rats climb palms, cypress and block walls to reach tile roofs, and roofline gaps give them a way in. Read about roof rat control and rodent exclusion.

Topic 2

Termites, roaches and mosquitoes

Do slab homes get termites?

Yes. Western subterranean termites are the valley's main termite, and colonies are active all year. They can reach a slab home through cracks and plumbing penetrations. A termite inspection checks for them.

When do termites swarm?

Swarms tend to follow calm, sunny days after the first autumn rains, and sometimes spring. Reports run from spring through October, so exact dates vary.

Why are there roaches in my clean kitchen?

German cockroaches infest kitchens and apartments regardless of how clean they are, and Turkestan cockroaches live mostly outdoors and move in during hot months. See cockroach control.

Why am I bitten during the day?

Aedes aegypti, which reached the valley around 2017 and has spread to more than 60 ZIP codes, is an aggressive daytime biter that prefers humans. Mosquito control targets its resting spots and breeding containers.

Is the West Nile risk serious?

Aedes aegypti has tested positive for West Nile virus in Clark County, and the Southern Nevada Health District runs mosquito surveillance. Officials describe the serious-illness risk as small.

Topic 3

Pricing and booking

How much does pest control cost in Las Vegas?

Single-visit general service starts at about $72 at one local company, and other services vary widely. See the pricing page; every range is an estimate and the exact price is confirmed on site.

Do I approve the price first?

Yes. The technician explains what was found and what the work costs, and nothing is applied until you approve it.

Can I call outside business hours?

Yes. Phones are answered 24/7, and same-day scheduling is offered when a technician is free.

How do I find out if you serve my street?

Use the ZIP check, browse the service areas or call (855) 974-4733.

Who regulates pest control in Nevada?

The Nevada Department of Agriculture licenses pest control businesses and applicators under NRS and NAC chapter 555. You can ask any pest control company for its license details.

Topic 4

Safety and preparation

Is treatment safe for kids and pets?

Pesticide products are registered by the EPA, and the label sets how each must be used, including when people and pets can return. The technician explains precautions for your household.

What should I do before a visit?

Clear clutter from under sinks, along baseboards and around garage walls so the technician can see the edges. Note where you saw pests, and when.

What should I do after a scorpion sting?

Stings in the Southwest can be serious and may need medical attention. If symptoms are severe, call emergency services or Poison Control right away, and read our guide on scorpion stings.
